How infomercial products measure up

Clark appeared to be the most clueless man in America several weeks ago when someone mentioned the Snuggie and he had no idea what they were talking about. How could he have missed out on this pop culture phenomenon?!

Thankfully, the consumer champ finally saw an ad on TV for the Snuggie and later saw Snuggies for sale in a retail store. And just like that Clark got hip to the marketing allure of this wearable blanket.

Now the February 2010 issue of Consumer Reports has taken a closer look at the Snuggie...and the results are anything but warm and fuzzy. The magazine found that Snuggies don't hold up well to repeated washings.

Faring better was the Magic Jack, a VoIP device that Clark routinely uses when he travels. The magazine found Magic Jack delivered a calling experience that is second only to a regular corded phone. That's high praise considering Consumer Reports won't accept lower quality for a lower price like Clark will.

Our listeners, meanwhile, have given the Magic Jack mixed reviews in the feedback they've shared with us.

In addition to the Snuggie and Magic Jack, Consumer Reports also reviewed Slap Chop, Garry Ultra Light, PedEgg, Grease Bullet, ShamWow, Tyre Grip & AutoSock, Ab Circle Pro, iRobot Looj, Urban Rebounder, Debbie Meyer Green Bags, Hercules Hook and Might Putty.
