ClarkHoward.com and The Clark Howard Show offer ways to save more, spend less and avoid rip-offs

Imagine walking into a store and having your smartphone automatically tell you whether or not you have enough money in your account to make a purchase. That's the promise of a new app called Wink.

This free mobile app uses your phone's GPS and geo-fencing technology to know immediately when you walk into a store. Once you're in the door, Wink will automatically pop up a message with your account balance so you can know at a glance how your finances stand.

No need to fumble around pulling up your mobile banking app and entering your username and password to manually check your account balance.

My hope is you'll never pay a $35 overdraft fee again thanks to this free app for iOS and Android. Visit IsMoreThan.com to sign up as a beta tester.

There's a simpler answer, though. Go cash only. It may be a better way of managing money for you!
