The July 2011 issue of Consumer Reports has ranked sunscreens and found that you don't have to pay big bucks to protect your skin from harsh UV rays.
Here's what so funny: The highest rated sunscreen turned out to be the cheapest one per ounce they tested!
NO-AD got a score of 89 from Consumer Reports. (In fairness, many of the sunscreens tested got ratings in the 80s, which means many of them are doing a good job protecting you. So the real question becomes cost.)
NO-AD costs 59 cents an ounce. The most expensive one the magazine tested was just under $19 an ounce! Now, I'm sure that $19 an ounce one comes in really cutesy bottle, but come on!
(I can't wait to leave this issue on my wife's desk! She buys the lowest-rated sunscreen in the magazine's SPF 40-50 category and it costs three times what NO-AD costs.)
Finally, the magazine also gave Best Buy recommendations to two store brands -- Target's Up & Up Sport SPF 30 and Wal-Mart's Equate Baby SPF 50.
