About this photo: This is the Chateau Frontenac and the Old City from the Plains of Abraham, where Wolfe and Montcalm fought for the future of Quebec--the St. Lawrence River in the distance.
Best deal found: The revolving restaurant atop Loews Hotel Le Concorde, L'Astral, is as expensive and as touristy a dinner as you might imagine. However, it is open for breakfast and lunch as well, and is a scenic bargain for either meal. At breakfast, particularly, the menu is a great value ($8.75 for a three egg omelette, for example), when you consider the noteworthy views out over Quebec. Tip--this is best enjoyed on a cloudy though dry day, so you don't have direct sunlight issues as you revolve into the path of the sun.

About this photo: Vernazza is one of 5 towns of Cinque Terre (5 Towns). It is a beautiful area of Italy and not far from Tuscany. Well worth a visit for a couple of days.

Destination: Aitutaki in the Cook Islands
About this photo: Taken on Akiama motu, one of the small islets that ring the 17sqKM Aitutaki Lagoon surrounding the Island of Aitutaki.
Best deal found: Air New Zealand as low as $580 RT out of LAX to Rarotonga. The Cook Islands are a great destination at an affordable price and... the islanders are the most friendly folks we've ever met.

About this photo: Bryce Canyon just below sunset point. You can't see this little spike from the rim of the canyon, but the good news is you only have to walk about 5 minutes below the rim to see it. If you visit Bryce Canyon, definitely plan some time to do some hiking.
Best deal found: Sometimes we just like to fold down the seats in our car and pull off the side of the road rather than finding accommodations. I think not many people would enjoy this sort of thing, but it's part of the fun. In the morning we were awakened by a herd of cattle passing by on both sides of the car.

About this photo: I took this picture while taking a walk through the Tuscany countryside with my husband. Vineyards, sunflower fields, old villas, rolling hills, and perfect weather - it was so beautiful!
Best deal found: In order to save money on accommodation, we stayed at campgrounds most of the time in Italy. Some had wonderful facilities and even cabins or villas that you could rent instead of using tents.
